About the Business
In 1944, Piaggio engineers Renzo Spolti and Vittorio Casini designed a motorcycle with bodywork fully enclosing the engine, handlebar-mounted controls and small diameter wheels. Officially known Moto Piaggio no. 5 nicknamed 'duckling' or 'Paperino' in Italian. The following year the ''MP6 prototype'' was created, upon seeing the 'MP6' for the first time Enrico Piaggio exclaimed: "Sembra una vespa!" ("It resembles a wasp!") Piaggio effectively named his new scooter on the spot!
From that day Piaggio have continued to manufacture the world most innovative and stylish scooters and small bikes, dominating the market. Today you can see the full range of Piaggio, Vespa and Gilera scooters and bikes at Blade Motorcycles in Swindon. We offer Scooters from 50cc to 800cc and 'geared' bikes in Trail, Supermoto or Race Replica styling all available in either 50 or 125cc.
