About the Business
During the 1980's, following the success of Kenny Roberts, Barry Sheene and Freddie Spencer, the glamour and excitement of Grand Prix racing proved to be hugely influential on the design of Sportsbikes for the Japanese and European markets. Very few Yamaha RD500LC's (first shown in late 1983) with its four-cylinder, liquid-cooled V4 ever reached the UK. But the following year Honda released their take on this new genre with the NS400R and Suzuki soon followed suit and launched the RG500 Gamma. By the 1990's the big two-stroke Race Replica bubble had burst and the 4-stroke and 250 two-strokes took the lead. Due to this ephemeral trend these classic bikes are now highly sort after by collectors and enthusiasts alike, not only for the ride and pride of ownership, but also as a sound investment.
