About the Business
This was where it all started back in the early eighties - at Hunters Chase, Ardleigh in a small out-building. Gavin started repairing mopeds and bikes, such as Yamaha FS1Es, AP50s and SS50s for the local people using his knowledge & experience he gained through racing Moto-x from 1979 through to 1984. Soon afterwards he moved the Business to Barrack Street, Colchester where he started to establish GH Motorcycles to where it is today.
Gavin started racing Motocross at Latchingdon in 1979. After cutting his teeth on old Honda C90s & Yamaha TY80s, then came the race bike, a Kawasaki KX80 B1. Racing through the schoolboy ranks, as Gavin approached school leaving age he started selling bikes from home and trading on Sundays from a Mercedes van. We adapted to market trends over the years but now find ourselves 30 years later back at the Heart of the Off Road world and enjoying every minute of it!
